      WHY « NO » TO THE SWISS/kapers AGREEMENT ?

The take-off of the new airline SWISS is imminent ! These past few months many Swissair colleagues have left, willingly or not. The total number of flight-attendants is going to decrease even more by the end of March. The lack of Cabin Crew Members can no longer be in doubt.

The State (cantons, confederacy), influential swiss companies, Economiesuisse and most political parties support the creation of SWISS. They have clearly let it be known that this new company, with an intercontinental network, is necessary for the growth of the swiss market and economy. ( the 26/26 option ).

SWISS want to be the best world airline, a quality company. In the past few months, Swissair flights have shown historic occupancy rates. Our passengers are enthusiastic about our work and care and have faith in us.

And now SWISS, a company with a new working capital, is offering us a cheap collective agreement, demands top service with reduced personnel. Don’t forget ! Swissair’s bankruptcy is due to it’s leadership and their strategies and also to the passivity of the Board. Our salary costs are in no way responsible for the fall of the company.

The management of SWISS wants us to believe that if we refuse our 10% part of concessions on the salary costs, we put the company in danger. Do you really think these calculations would amount to such a sum, in regard to the total costs, that the company could no longer function? One would be in a legitimate position to question the viability of such a company.

The savings should not be made on the most important capital of SWISS :IT’S PERSONEL !

Maintaining the salary scale is an attempted deception

A reminder of the losses we would suffer in comparison with the actual agreement:

·           Holidays: - 3 days: (12 monthly salaries + 1/2 13th) : 365 days x 3 days : 12 Months = your monthly losses

·           13th salary, so long awaited, does not figure in the new agreement.

            (1/2 monthly salary : 12 = monthly losses)

·           Tax-Free Sales provisions are not paid out anymore. Nuance Trading certainly pays this service to SWISS and you are expected to perform it on-board for free ! (Sum up the provisions for one year : 12 = monthly average)

·           Overtime duty is not paid anymore: SFr.7.45/hour was already very little and they want to suppress even this (about SFr.126/month)

And, IMPORTANT fact, the new FDR are not yet negotiated.

·           Travel expenses are lowered to SFr.3 the hour, i.e. a loss of about 25 %.

·           The pension fund : Swissair paid 11% and we paid 5% into our fund. Swissair had a special "bridge" to finance our retirement at 56, unfortunately this “bridge“ was lost in the bankruptcy. To replace this “bridge”, we will have to contribute increasingly higher sums to the fund (depending on age).

Younger F/A will lose around 55% of their capital, older employees will have to pay increased contributions of up to 160% out of their salaries. All this to receive only 80% of last salary at a retirement age which has been brought forward to 58!

·         We should learn from our mistakes : The new agreement must include a social plan !

What happens if we should reject the agreement ?

SWISS has informed us that they are willing to take over all the active personnel of Swissair. And Swissair hasn’t laid us off. In this case, and with a valid working agreement, art. 333 of the Obligation code has to be applied: the new company has to honour the ongoing agreement for the year following the take over.

With the refusal of the agreement we are offered, we want to give Kapers new discussion platforms and our support to obtain better conditions.

We now have the best chance to be heard.

We must fight for our salaries, our benefits and our rights as well as for a social plan

of which we can be proud.

YOUR new « SWISS » needs YOU, it must take off on 31st of March with YOU

3000 qualified Cabin Crew Members are not found in 20 days

DON'T LET YOURSELF BE SOLD OUT CHEAP !

LET’S VOTE “NO” to this Collective Agreement

This vote is important for a future fair agreement, for our motivation, for the success of the new airline SWISS.

United we are stronger. It does not matter whether you belong to CROSSAIR or SWISSAIR. This concerns everybody’s future in the new company SWISS

Our QUALITY WORK deserves a QUALITY SALARY !
